装配问题

一直搞不懂装配模块中一个带红色坐标样子的图标,在插入一个新的part的时候,他就在part的上一层出现了,帮助文件上解释说:Instance of a part. This symbol  means that there is a geometrical representation of the part and that it is activated.
到底是什么意思啊?
还有就是这个图标的property的一些东西,像instance,part number及reference到底什么关系,有什么用呢?
